4.5 kW vs 6 kW Sauna Heater

The jump from 4.5 kW to 6 kW looks small on a product page but can change room coverage and circuit requirements.

SaunaVerdicts take: Use 4.5 kW when the adjusted room volume sits comfortably inside that exact model’s rating. Move to 6 kW when the room or heat-loss surfaces require it, not simply because faster sounds better.

Room volume comes first

HUUM’s current US DROP table lists DROP 4 at 106–248 ft³ and DROP 6 at 177–318 ft³ on 240V. The ranges overlap, which is why room construction and exposed surfaces matter.

Electrical load rises materially

HUUM lists 18.75 A for DROP 4 and 25 A for DROP 6 at 240V, with both using a 30 A breaker in the current table but different loading. Final design still follows the installation manual and local code.

Heater size affects the whole project

Clearances, stone capacity, control compatibility and circuit planning should be checked together. Do not choose by kW in isolation.
