Sauna heaters

6 kW vs 8 kW Sauna Heater

A higher-output heater is useful only when the room actually needs it. Moving above 6 kW can push the installation into a higher-current branch circuit and different clearance or control requirements.

SaunaVerdicts take: If the adjusted room volume fits a 6 kW manufacturer range, stay there unless the manual or room construction indicates otherwise. Move up only when the room load justifies it.

6 kW already covers many home rooms

Harvia currently rates its KIP60W 6.0 kW unit for 170–300 ft³. HUUM rates DROP 6 for 177–318 ft³ at 240V.

The next class costs more electrically

HUUM’s current DROP table lists 7.5 kW at 31.25 A with a 40 A breaker, compared with DROP 6 at 25 A with a 30 A breaker. Treat the exact heater manual as authoritative.

Effective volume can change the answer

Large glass areas or masonry can move a room out of the smaller heater’s intended range even when raw dimensions look acceptable.
